A CRACK IN THE RANKS

February 25, 2006

Another rebellion in the making . . .

At the center of it, a General with a vague past . . . Surrounded by power hungry individuals . . . KABOOM!

Our country has been known for numerous coup attempts by the military. They were never victorious though due to the fact that the number of great officers outnumber those of the bad apples.

I just have one question, what parameter did you use in promoting an officer who had been part of a rebellion before?

A strong Republic punishes those who tries to weaken it. Leaders who have committed treason must be hanged or shot by a firing squad.

Why give them amnesty? What about the orders they made to end the lives of hundreds of troops loyal to the constitution?

Where is the justice in that?

A CRACK IN THE RANKS . . . A HIGHLY POLITICIZED MILITARY.

A Blast For All

A few days ago, an explosion occurred in the grounds of what was supposed to be the most secured place in the Philippines: THE MALACANANG PALACE. Alot of questions were raised that included the possibility of a military coup.

Officals claimed it was nothing but a chemical combustion, some hooligans though proudly exclaimed that they were the fighters out to destabilize the government.

The noise from that blast can still be heard today. And it received a strong response from the Commander in Chief: "I AM PLACING THE ENTIRE NATION IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY".

February 25, 1986 was the day when the Filipinos showed the world how we fought for our democracy. It wasn’t through a bloody coup nor with the use of a countryside revolt. We regained our freedom by the power of our prayers and a united resolve.

20 years after we are once again called to EDSA. Not to topple the government or unseat the dictatorial ruler. But rather, to protect our REPUBLIC from the evil doers hiding in the facade of nobility. Who among those politicians can gallantly announce at the Business Square that they have no personal interest in their call for the President to resign? I have been a critic of the way our leaders are sworn into power. We are a society bounded by the rule of law. How come we are caught in a dilemma where we have to choose which side we are on?

EDSA was a historic and unprecedented event. It changed the way the world looked at our people. However, it weakened our nation in a manner we never imagined. Now, we have to face the fire.

Which side are you on? Left, Right or Center?

A Blast For ALL . . .

Was it worth it?

February 21, 2006

In 1945, Gen. MacArthur landed in Leyte to liberate the Philippines from the hands of its Japanese Invaders . . .

Now, Leyte has been tagged as an environmental disaster area.

Another landslide? Hundreds of lives have been affected while a million others wonder, what has happened to this bastion of historical events?

I wonder if those in the DENR realize that we have a problem with our forests in this area. OOPS! Correction. We have no forests in the area.

3 Years ago, the same thing happened. Now, the people of Leyte has experienced it again. A disaster of historic proportion.

Learning from experience is not as painful as not learning from that experience. POLITICIANS have said that it will never happen again. But it did! Now is the time for those accountable to shoulder the responsibility for this tragedy.

Illegal logging should be considered a heinous crime because of its deadly effects on human life. Some critics will say, this is the price we pay for development. On my end, I believe this is the price we pay for corruption and red tape in the government.

To our leaders and the hooligans who continuously endanger the lives of our citizens by destroying our mountains I ask this simple question . . .

Was it worth it???

Looking for Love

February 14, 2006

The season for sharing our hearts with someone has arrived. Although I must say, this particular occassion is more of a mall celebration considering that it is the commericial establishments that continuously highlight this date.

February 14 is known to many as Valentines day but understood by only a few.

And in this particular day, alot of people are wondering, where is my soulmate?

Believe it or not, majority of us believes that there is someone out there for all of us. Unfortunately, this continuously remains a myth.

Looking for love . . .

Do we really look for that special someone in our lives?

I have entered into a lot of discussion with people from various walks of life. Apparantly, all of them ask the same question whenever they reached a certain age they feel is a buffer line towards becoming an old maid or in other words a bachelor for life.

They mentioned that Valentines day only reminds them of being alone. And they felt like as if they will never fall in love with anyone or worse no one was made for them.

Guys, you are all so wrong.

This day is about the relationships that you have built not only with your spouse or your special someone but also with your families and friends. This day is a celebration of the people who completes your life. You need not look anywhere else.

We are all in dire need for someone to love us. But most of the time, they are just beside us.

Well, I found mine and she is always beside me.

Looking for Love  . . . One of the most exciting quest . .

and the TOUGHEST, of course.

A Life Without Television

February 8, 2006

Can you even picture a world where everyone goes about their everyday lives without pushing the remote control button?

I can.

For the past 3 months, I have been so busy that I no longer know who won the NBA All Star Games. Or, has it ever started yet?

I guess, work can put you off to alot of stuff but apparantly, it was also a good thing.

Why? Well, instead of listenting to the barbaric delivery of the news today, I can now quietly browse and read for myself on the internet the current events that has transpired in my world.

I only have 3 favorite channels: NEWS - CNN and BBC, Bloomberg, ESPN and HBO.

Other than these stations, BORING!

But recently, because of the tiring day at work, I only have the time and strength to read the morning paper and browse the internet. I already miss alot of my favorite repeats.

Although during the weekends, I still tend to enjoy reading a book or two regarding business and war novels.

So, is life without television possible? YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!
