A Life Without Television

February 8, 2006

Can you even picture a world where everyone goes about their everyday lives without pushing the remote control button?

I can.

For the past 3 months, I have been so busy that I no longer know who won the NBA All Star Games. Or, has it ever started yet?

I guess, work can put you off to alot of stuff but apparantly, it was also a good thing.

Why? Well, instead of listenting to the barbaric delivery of the news today, I can now quietly browse and read for myself on the internet the current events that has transpired in my world.

I only have 3 favorite channels: NEWS - CNN and BBC, Bloomberg, ESPN and HBO.

Other than these stations, BORING!

But recently, because of the tiring day at work, I only have the time and strength to read the morning paper and browse the internet. I already miss alot of my favorite repeats.

Although during the weekends, I still tend to enjoy reading a book or two regarding business and war novels.

So, is life without television possible? YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!

You can say that all the time JP. At times, TV is just a distraction and mind junk. My favorite channel though is Discovery. I bet you will like it too. When there is really nothing good on tv, i just watch this knowledge channel.

I've been on "tv abstinence" since Sept. 05 — a way of lifestyle editing because I found it unjustifiable to shell out P900+/month when I don't get to watch that much TV. It was very abrupt but I managed. I'd have fleeting moments of missing Oprah and Matt Lauer (Hahahaha) but nothing I can't easily dust off. I don't miss it at all. Have had better sleep and it has helped me "silence my wants".

It is possible… almost. I spent all my college days without TV in my apartment. OH well… I go home every weekend… But at times I still wasn't able to get hold of the remote when I'm home. Try watching Nickelodeon. You might think Spongebob is dumb. *wink* But give him a chance. hahaha.
