Have a life . . .

March 28, 2006

What’s difference between a Manager and a Sports Athlete? Well, they know when the game ends and we don’t.

That’s right . . .

Basketball has 4 quarters, a fiscal year has 4 quarters. The only problem is, in business, we can’t just call timeout. Throughout the years that I have endeared myself in the corporate world, I took an oath, "I Pledge Allegience, to a stressful life."

My wife though gave me an interesting insight . . .

"When you work too much, you will lose your sponteneity. Thus, you will become BORING!" I wittingly replied, "Well, you married a boring man."

It was just an ordinary conversation but it was another paradigm for me. I hate to admit it, but she was right.

Corporate Managers also needs to call timeout. You can only perform better if you have enough time to rest.

Oscillation: ENGAGE - DISENGAGE - REST - RECOVERY.

Stress is a part of life that make us stronger. When we lift weights, our muscles get tired. But if we rest for a day, we will wake up stronger the next day.

Just a perspective to all workaholics like me out there, HAVE A LIFE! See the results for yourself . . . I did.

We are all human therefore as long as someone is no danger to the society and works hard then they should be allowed to live and work and not streotyped, "illegal immigrants". Aftrerall the founding fathers of America were all illigal immigrants.

ouch!

i just posted something that lamented the workaholic situation.

we are not our work…so the ongoing mantra now is:

i should get out more, i should get out more, i should get out more….
