REVIEW THE MILK CODE

September 25, 2006

"Breastfeeding is best for babies". Everyone knows this. Sad to say, not everyone adheres to it.

I have seen activists and milk companies battle over this issue since time and memorial. Recently, the Philippine government expanded the coverage of E.O 51 or the milk code banning all kinds of advertisements from the starter formula up to the growing up milks. Experts believe that this is the main reason why breastfeeding has been declining through the years. Everyone blames the evil corporation and its aggressive marketing campaign for the sudden shift.

Why blame the marketeers? Why ban the milk commercials? Do you think taking out the ads will be the solution to this health problem?

This is the mistake most officials make. In order to solve a problem, they will drastically turn the knob and create a different problem all at the same time. First and foremost, its the mother's choice. NO one can tell the consumer what they will do. You can do activities that may influence them but at the end of the day, the consumer will always be the boss. Instead of banning the commercials, why not fight them in their own turf?

We can have commercials on charter change, why not have commercials on the importance of breastfeeding? Ever since, I was never convinced that the milk code will prevent usage of infant milk formulas nevertheless limit its consumption. Times are changing. I suggest the law change with it too. Review the milk code and set clear parameters on what can and cannot be done.

Don't blame companies that are manufacturing these products. Don't hate the people that are marketing these brands. Instead, think out of the box on how to battle these giants and marketing something that is free. Play in the same field that they are playing in rather than whine and create laws that will affect economic stability.

What Will the POPE say?

WWPS - What will the POPE say?

This is the problem with our world today, news are exagerrated and reactions flare because of a simple misunderstanding. First and foremost, I really cannot imagine our pontiff degrading other religions. He wouldn't have become a Pope if he loves picking up a fight with others. It may have been the people who communicated it that is to blame for this situation.

If he was in lecture, why would anyone report that he said this and that inspite of it being an excerpt from a book he was discussing? What an absurd interpretation of a topic! I just don't get it. The media really loves violence. How was it shown in television networks all over the globe?

There are alot of sensitive topics that may spark an ire and which can offend people. It has alot to do with how it was delivered and what was the intention of it being brought out. However, there are really some who would go out of their way and make both sides fight each other.

To our Muslim brothers, in behalf of our Pope, we sincerely apologize. Just a word though, I hope you don't believe everything you hear from the news. We Christians learned not to.

WHAT WILL THE POPE SAY NEXT?

Agent “C”

Revolutionary virus . . .

Yes, its spreading. From the Taiwan strait all the way to Bangkok, leadership change is coming into play. I call this, the AGENT "C" syndrome!

Governance in the new era has definitely evolved. No more elections. No more chances. Hostile takeover is now the pill of choice.

The events in Thailand was simply troubling. The military took over kicking out a leader the people perceived as corrupt. Just a thought, what happened to due process? In principle, is this the right way to go?

Activists will say, yes. Leftists will say, yes. Rightists will say, yes. Moderates might say, yes. But JP will say, NO!

Why? Well, this is the fire that will weaken the foundation of a nation. We all have to learn from history. Thailand has had 18 Military takeovers in 74 years. The stability of the nation is affected whenever the government is overthrown by the men in uniform. Take the Philippines for example. In 30 years, we have had alot of military adventurism with 2 coup having been successful. Just imagine the number ladies and gentlemen. People died, a nation struggled to get back. And up until now, we are all still haunted by our past.

Because of Agent "C" through the military, the condition of the state was placed in serious jeopardy. The future appears to be uncertain and insecurity comes along the way. This will lead to further instability and fear. Progress and development will stagnate resulting into an economic meltdown that will ruin the backbone that holds the nation together.

I do hope that the government institutions in Thailand be brought back up immediately. If not, it may bring serious consequences throughout the region. Let us all remember that the military doesn't have the capability to run a nation. People can argue with me on this one, but I would like to emphasize my point: SOLDIERS CANNOT LEAD CIVILIANS! They are not trained for this one.

AGENT "C", CATASTROPHE, the virus that can destroy us all . . .

Dr. HOUSE is AWESOME!

September 15, 2006

This AXN series is fantastic! Dr. House might be rude, but he gets the job done. This is not similar to E.R or Doogie Howser M.D. Instead, its all about identifying the right illness to treat.

Assessing the real condition of the patient is a challenge to any physician specially now that diseases have become complicated.

WOW! Hat's off to the producers of this series. YOU HAVE MY VOTE!

Dr. HOUSE M.D . . . SIMPLY AWESOME!

2006 Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam

Enough is enough . . .

Okay, I have seen too much exposure for this issue. Even the world has had enough.

First and foremost, I sincerely believe that all passers of the 2006 Nursing Board Exam be recognized by the Professional World.

What about the leak? Well, I really doubt it if the test leakage reached all the examiners. Otherwise, everyone would have passed. If the board's top 10 achievers averaged 100%, that's questionable. This is not like the med board exam leakage before where a few got the answers and it was reflected in their scores. This is about a joy ride taken by a few but still did not create tremendous impact on their scores.

This is crazy! Give the nurses their licenses for God's sake. Punish those responsible and give the others a break will you!

The issue has been dragged for so long that it has tainted the image of nursing as a profession. To those academic jerks who feels that this has affected the quality of nursing education in the Philippines, think again. You guys created a short-cut for this discipline to fulfill your vested interests. With all the things you did for the nursing course, wasn't this expected? But again, its not the issue. The issue here is the fact that the 2006 Nursing Graduates need their licenses, and by God I feel they all have earned it. So what's the big fuzz?

2006 Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam . . . don't punish everyone!
