Cheap Airlines Saved the Tourism Industry

March 23, 2007

Tiger, Air Macau, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, the list goes on . . .

They have a different category. In fact, they have a separate terminal. But, like any transporation, if it will get you from point A to point B, why not?

These airways have saved the tourism industry. The events that transpired in September 11 almost destroyed air travel. Airlines were filing Chapter 11 left and right. No one seemed to be interested in flying anymore. Then came the high oil prices again delivering a big blow to tourism. The future seemed to be blurred because of these sequential events.

Then, budget fares was born. Airlines sprung into play that provided new alternatives. CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES.

The competition heated up and voila, a new industry dynamic surfaced. Lower prices kept people flying from one place to the other. Yeah the terrorist are still there, but we usually learn to adapt. So, not a problem.

One can go to any Asian country for just $ 100 bucks. Never was this possible 15 years ago. But now, it has turned into a flying bus.

Haven't tried though . . . I will still wait for it to develop itself. But this has kept airfares of the traditional airlines lower than before.

Competition in a free market is good. Consumers have better options . . . This is the main reason why I like the presence of cheap airlines. It keeps the cost in check and allows more people to travel. More jobs, more business.

CHEAP AIRLINES SAVED THE TOURISM INDUSTRY!

Financial Management, an important tool

It's never too early to start. . . But, does everyone know how?

To keep it simple, at home we were taught that saving money was important. Several reasons were given, but no clear steps were provided. Do still remember the advice always reinforced by our parents? "Save your allowance so that you can buy what you want." Or the classic, "Open a bank account so that your money can grow."

I am a part of this generation wherein financial literacy was a topic in school and misunderstood at home. Traditional parents would tell their children to study hard so that they can work in a big company and earn alot of money. Or take up a degree in medicine because "DOCTOR's tend to earn alot." Plus the fact that it is nice to have an MD. in the family.

Sounds familiar?

Well, this is the paradigm that still exist in our society primarily because no one really learned the basic concepts of financials. Why do I say this? It's because a lot of us are still paying ridiculous taxes and the politicians seem to be getting richer by the minute.

Let's face it, the few who understands and practices good financial management are those who doesn't even realize how rich they have become. The young generation is busy spending money that after graduation they have no clue of how to make money on their own.

In fact, a lot of young professionals these days are saving nothing and spending everything. Their careers are growing but their cash base isn't. Then they will analyze if in fact they are in their right place etc. leaving logic behind and moving on with their lives at a pace that they cannot predict.

Never fall into this trap. This is a rat race that will just make you go in circles until you tire out.

The solution? A FINANCIAL COACH. Not someone who will tell you to invest here, there and everywhere. But rather someone who will teach you on the principles of financial management.

It isn't easy believe me. But not to worry, this is not about accounting 101. Nothing technical, only practical. As early as now, make your money work for you. Pile up your assets and eliminate your liabilities.

Not as simple as ABC but as pure as 123. Early on discover the financial power that lies within our reach. Grab this opportunity and you will never regret it.

I'm very happy that I met my coach. The paths seem to be clearer and it is more exciting than ever.

Friends, learn all about financials. BELIEVE ME, EVERYTHING STARTS HERE!

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, an important tool for independence.

The Church and it’s Politics . . .

"We don't issue permits that will allow you to have your child baptized in another parish." The very words uttered by the bureaucratic church. I just couldn't believe my ears.

We can't choose any other church as a venue for my child to recieve the holy sacrament of baptism? This is absurd.

I don't know who makes these rules, but they really suck. I'm happy that my child became a Christian but I cannot digest the fact that we will be restricted to just our home parish. My goodness, what is happening to our world?

The day before the baptism, they required us to sit down in their 3 hour seminar talking about a topic that doesn't make any sense because the one conducting it feels she is lecturing to a bunch of kids.

In fact, she discussed the entire Bible to us from Book of Genesis all the way to the New testament. Not that I don't like the topic but it is equally important to deliver it well to your audience. Would it hurt to relate the events in the modern era?

I mean, it sounded more like you are explaining to us a religion we know nothing of even though we have learned it for 20 years in school. Why make it so technical? Why force your audience in a 3 hour session that doesn't even have a bladder break? Then threatening the parents that those who won't attend will not be granted the sacrament.

My God, are you listening to yourselves? I hate this bureaucracy because I feel the church is my refuge whenever I want to veer away from the tumultous world we live in. Something that will protect us and keep us sane in an era that doesn't know when to stop.

Politics is destroying the very foundation of Christianity. I would rather have an hour talking about parenthood and relating it to the verses in the bible. I'd prefer something interactive and fun where the parents will learn how our Lord has taken cared of his people.

Let us not go back to the spanish era when Christianity was used to rule the populace and cloud the majority in fear. Let's stop imposing rules that will build a barrier between the Modern Church and the its followers.

Finally, lets end the politics that has corrupted the very institution established by Christ.

THE CHURCH and ITS POLITICS, not a good match.

Welcome to the Christian world, my son!

MJ is now a Christian. March 18 was the day when my first born received the Holy Sacrament of Baptism.

He has a lot to look forward to in his life. This is just the start. 2 months in this world and the happiness he has brought us is truly amazing.

Man, I love my kid.

WELCOME TO THE CHRISTIAN WORLD, MY SON!

Here we go again . . .

March 5, 2007

The Global financial crisis is just around the corner. Stock markets tumbling down with no clear reason. This is something that we all need to watch out for. From Europe to Bangkok, the market is reaching its pinnacle for disaster.

This will test the resiliency of the global economy. Any growth spurt will always be followed by a drastic downtrend. Everything that goes up must come down.

Let's see how each country reacts to this economic outage. If the fundamentals are right, then there is no need to worry. But if the financial state of each nation was "window-dressed" to serve its political interest, then the leaders must be hanged.

The tumbling global market, HERE WE GO AGAIN!
