It spreads very fast . . . Like a Flu.
Wait, it is a flu. For the past weeks, way, way back during the Pacquiao-Hatton fight, a new flu strain emerged. It was initially known as “Swine Flu” because of its origin from pigs, but now is simply known for its acronym as the A(H1N1) virus. It was so unique that when the infection first sprouted in Mexico, the country had to halt its economy for 3 days, just to stop the spread of the unknown disease sending fear across the world.
There were casualties and there were those who were severely infected by this radical flu strain. Like wildfire in the dry lands of California, it wreaked havoc across 77 nations with over 30,000 infections. And yes, up until now, we don’t know how many are really infected.
People were living in fear and panic for the past months. But let me step back and digest what this disease is all about. Its a flu. It is as virulent and potent like any other flu. The mutation of the virus was simply accelerated by the changing climate and the dangerous level of pollutants in our air.
Because of our declining environment, we are now faced with a greater challenge: How can humanity cope up with the monsters it has built over the years? With our blatant disregard for the needs of our planet, mother nature is coming back at us with a deadly blow.
I just hope that we regain our senses and understand that we cannot continuously destroy our world through the by products of our time and live worry free from any consequence this may bring.
This is a wake up call.
